
The National Anti-profiteering Authority (NAA) has obtained clearance from the High Court of Bombay for a visit to the offices of Saphire Foods Pvt. Ltd. to gather documents and information during the locking process.
In this writ petition, it was brought to the court's notice that the National Anti-profiteering Authority (NAA) was struggling to obtain information from Saphire Foods Pvt. Ltd. has not received the requisite details since 6 August 2019, but also after many notices given from time to time by the NAA.
The court ordered Saphire Foods to provide all such information, not yet provided, on or before 8 June 2020. The court also allowed NAA to visit the premises of the Saphire Foods office and to collect all such information, if any, with the assistance of the necessary staff. Sapphire Foods is a renowned business with more than 250 KFC and Pizza Hut franchises around the country.
Since 6 August 2019, NAA has been struggling to acquire details from Saphire Foods.. The court ordered that if such permission is necessary to enter the petitioner's office from the police station concerned, such permission shall also be given.
The Bombay High Court also made it clear that no further extension of time will be given to Saphire Foods to include such details beyond 8 June 2020. No coercive action against the petitioner shall also be taken by the authority until 10 June 2020 to ensure that such information is not provided.
