GST Portal allowed e-KYC/ Aadhaar/Linking for Present GST Taxpayers


The GST Portal has allowed Aadhaar Authentication/E-KYC on the GST Portal for Existing Taxpayers. Performance for Aadhaar Authentication and e-KYC where Aadhaar is not accessible has been dispatched to GST Common Portal w.e.f. 6 January 2021 for existing taxpayers. All taxpayers registered as Regular Taxpayers (including SEZ Units/Developers, Casual Taxable persons), ISD & Composition Taxpayers may submit their e-KYC/ Aadhaar Authentication to the GST Portal. This shall not apply to government departments, public sector undertakings, local authorities, and statutory bodies.

 The below here explains & lists Aadhaar authentication for the different constitutions of business:

How is ADVAIT linked to all this?

The Govt will use ADVAIT – Tax 360o at every point of your business & will work to enforce it speedily. Here is a Pro-tip that can protect you from issues!

Make absolutely sure you link the Aadhar number to your Business GST portal. This Aadhar number should be the owner of a business.

Also, make absolutely sure that your phone number is registered with the Aadhar number that you link to in the portal.

Connect to the Aadhar No one other than the Business owner or linking the Aadhar number that does not have a linked Phone number will cause problems due to the automated systems used by the Government, including ADVAIT!

Basic Documents required to upload for e-KYC/ Aadhaar/Linking with the format:

GST Taxpayer can select any of the below documents for e-KYC/ Aadhaar/Linking: In absence of Aadhaar, they can upload any of the following documents to undergo e-KYC:

•KYC Form

•Certificate issued by Competent Authority

•Aadhaar Enrolment Number

•EPIC (Voter ID Card)

•Passport

•Others

All the above document types must be JPEG or PDF. Max size for upload should be 2 MB.

Conducting all of these tasks might still take a couple of minutes or hours of your time, but they will help you avoid major GST issues in the future.

How to get Aadhar linking facility under the GST?

  • Go for Log on to www.gst.gov.in & navigate to Services

> Registration > New Registration option.

  • Alternatively, the taxpayer can also click REGISTER NOW link.

How we get OTP via Aadhaar authentication authentication authentication link: You will obtain a common OTP on your phone number & an E-mail ID linked to your Aadhaar on the UIDAI portal for authentication.

Note: You will receive the Aadhaar Authentication Link on the mobile number and e-mail IDs of the Partners/ Promoters or Primary Authorized Signatories selected, as indicated in the application for registration.

All Indian people can make use of the facility for prompt approval of GST registration via Aadhaar authentication. Even so, it is not needed for tax deductors, tax collectors, OIDARs, taxpayers with UIN & Non-resident GST taxpayers.

For both cases, the officer concerned must act within a fixed time of time days for the person who opts for Aadhaar authentication and 21 days for those who opt.

Exemption from Aadhaar authentication under GST: If there is any type of business constitution that is exempted from Aadhaar authentication and for which authentication is not needed? Yes, for the aforementioned kinds of business Aadhaar authentication is excluded and that is not needed. Like PSU, Statutory Body, Govt Dept, Local Authority; Legal body
