- Business turnover exceeding prescribed limits.
- Professional receipts crossing specified thresholds.
- TDS/TCS exceeding prescribed limits.
- Ownership of foreign assets or signing authority in a foreign account.
- Additionally, receiving high-value gifts from blood relatives may be tax-exempt but should be properly documented, and merely having income below the exemption limit does not automatically exempt a taxpayer from filing an income tax return. Timely filing helps avoid penalties, interest, notices, and loss of benefits such as carrying forward capital or business losses.
