Class 2 Certificates: are given to the director/signatory authorities of the companies with the aim of electronic filing with the Registrar of Companies ( ROC). Class 2 certificates are compulsory for individuals who need to sign manual documents when filing the return with the ROC.
Class 3 Certificates: These certificates should be used for online participation/bidding in e-auctions and digital tenders anywhere in India. Vendors wishing to compete in electronic tenders must have a digital signature of Class 3.

Main Points to be remembered for applying for DSC?
- Digital signatures shall be given for 1 or 2 years. They need to be renewed after their validity has expired.
- An individual may have different Digital Signature Certificates – one for business purposes and the other for a personal purpose.
