Guidelines for members to complete their CPE activities
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has issued a notification u/s 15(2)(fa) of the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 (as amended by the Chartered Accountants (Amendment) Act, 2022) regarding the “Statement on Continuing Professional Education, 2023.” The statement, introduced at the 426th Council meeting of ICAI, outlines the guidelines and requirements for members to complete their Continuing Professional Education activities. This initiative underscores ICAI’s commitment to maintaining high professional standards and encouraging continuous learning among its members
Key Highlights: Guidelines for members to complete their CPE activities
- CPE Requirements for 2024 Compliance: The provisions for non-compliance with CPE requirements will apply from January 1, 2025, based on the performance for the calendar year 2024. Members are required to fulfill their CPE obligations by December 31, 2024, to avoid hardships. Minimum CPE Hours requirements for Members (aged less than 60 years) who are holding Certificate of Practice (except all those members who are residing abroad) as applicable from 1.1.2023 onwards:
(i) Complete at least 40 CPE credit hours in each Calendar Year.
(ii) Complete minimum 20 CPE credit hours of structured learning during the calendar year.
(iii) Balance 20 CPE credit hours can be completed either through Structured or Unstructured learning (as per Member’s choice).

- Unstructured Learning Activities: Members who have completed unstructured learning activities are advised to update their details on the CPE portal at www.cpeicai.org to avoid being marked as non-compliant. For discrepancies in CPE credit hours, members can contact the CPE Secretariat via email at cpeadmin@icai.in.

- Complete CPE requirements: ensure compliance with CPE hours as applicable by December 31, 2024. Log into the CPE portal regularly to update activities and verify compliance.
