How to delinking your Aadhaar from the wrong PAN. 

Taxpayers submit a request to your Jurisdictional Assessing Officer (JAO) for delinking your Aadhaar from the wrong PAN. And after D-Link & Visit the e-filing website and follow the instructions to link your PAN and Aadhaar again with 1000/- fee. And during this time your payment with wrong pan amount may take times to credit in your bank account.

If your Aadhaar is linked with an incorrect PAN or your PAN is linked with an incorrect Aadhaar, follow these steps to correct the linkage:

How to Submit a Delinking Request:

    • Visit your Jurisdictional Assessing Officer (JAO). Submit a formal request to delink the incorrect Aadhaar from your PAN. Ensure you provide necessary documents and details to support your request.
    • The JAO will process your request and delink the incorrect Aadhaar from your PAN. This may take some time, so monitor the status if possible.
    • Original Aadhaar card and PAN card.  A complaint letter detailing the issue, including the incorrect PAN linked to your Aadhaar.
    • After delinking, you need to link the correct Aadhaar with your PAN.
    • Log in to the Income Tax e-filing portal (https://www.incometax.gov.in).
    • Navigate to the ‘Link Aadhaar’ section.
    • Attach Required Documents:

      • Correct Aadhaar Copy: Self-attested.
      • Correct PAN Copy: Self-attested with the note “This is my correct PAN”.
      • Incorrect PAN Copy: Self-attested with the note “This is not my PAN”.
      • Form 16/16A: If available, for the correct PAN.
    • Submit Documents to Assessing Officer – Prepare the Documents:

      • Print the grievance submitted online. Ensure that details in both PAN and Aadhaar databases match.
      • Visit the TIN-NSDL website or the UTIISL PAN Online Portal to update your PAN details if needed.
      • Visit the UIDAI website to update your Aadhaar details if needed.
      • Attach the documents specified above.
      • Write a covering letter including your name, address, email ID, phone number, correct PAN, Aadhaar number, and a brief description of the issue. Optionally, include your Aadhaar update history (download from uidai.gov.in)
      • Before submitting the linking request, you may need to pay the applicable fee. This can usually be done through the e-filing portal or other authorized payment channels.
    • Ensure you have the payment receipt as proof.   Check if the payment was made under minor head code 5003. If there are issues with the payment reflecting, lodge a grievance or contact the helpdesk.
    • Once the fee is paid, submit the request to link your correct Aadhaar with your PAN through the e-filing portal.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions and enter the required details.
    • After submission, the system will process your request.
    • You will receive a confirmation message once the Aadhaar is successfully linked with your PAN.

By following above steps, you can correct any discrepancies in your Aadhaar-PAN linkage.

Key Not related to delinking your Aadhaar from the wrong PAN.

  • No Refund of Fees: Fees paid under section 234H for late linkage of PAN-Aadhaar under minor head 500 are non-refundable.
  • Only individuals who are eligible to obtain an Aadhaar number are required to comply with this section.
  • Check if the payment was made under minor head code 5003. If there are issues with the payment reflecting, lodge a grievance or contact the helpdesk.
  • If an individual has applied for Aadhaar but has not yet received it, the Enrolment ID can be used temporarily.
  • Ensuring compliance with Section 139AA is crucial for seamless filing of income tax returns and for the application of a new PAN. By adhering to Section 139AA, individuals can ensure they meet the legal requirements for quoting Aadhaar in PAN applications and income tax returns,
