Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the Union Budget papers will not be printed for the first time since Independence sources aware of the development said.
The Union Budget is printed annually in the home press of the finance ministry, involving approximately 100 workers who have to remain together for almost a fortnight before the papers are printed, sealed, and delivered on the budget day.
However, this year the government has chosen not to conduct the exercise and share soft copies of the Budget instead, considering the Covid 19 pandemic and the rise in the number of cases again.
“The Budget papers – the Union Budget and Economic Survey – will not get printed, soft copies will be provided,” the official said.
Both Members of Parliament will get, the official added, soft copies of the Union budget. On February 1, the Union Budget will be presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Parliament’s budget session will begin on January 29 and run until April 8. In two pieces, the session will take place. The first session will run from January until February 15, and the second session will take place from March 8 to April 8.
Between the courses, from February 16 and March 7, there will be breaks. After the monsoon session, the Budget session will take place. Due to the increasing number of Covid cases last year, the winter session of Parliament did not take place.
