  • GST dept issues a GST Registration Certificate under Business name at the time of GST registration based on the information we provide. But any of the earlier-provided information could need to be changed.
  • For existing GST  taxpayers, GST registration is the first & most essential thing under GST regime because without it, they cannot obtain their GSTIN No, which serves as their primary identification number.
  • It’s essential to fill out the registration form accurately, but what if someone made an error or missed some significant fields?
  • In the GST registration process, it is necessary to provide the “Reasons” for the adjustment when requesting changes in certain fields of a registration form.

Three Kind of Amendment of GST registration:  

  • 1st one is Amendments in Non- Core fields
  • 2nd one is Amendments in Core fields
  • 3rd one is Change in Mobile No or Email needed a verification by OTP after online verification on GST portal.

What do change GST registration in core fields involve?

Below GST registration application fields are referred to as essential fields.

  • Principal Place of Business or Additional Place of Business (barring a change in State) (other than change in State)
  • Stakeholders’ deletion or addition.
  • Change in the business’s name (legal name), if the permanent account number has not changed.

What do change GST registration in non-Core fields involve?

Meaning of GST registration Non- Core fields: 

  • GST Registration modification in the Non-Core fields do not need any kind of approval of Goods & Services tax officials.
  • The Modification are Filed by GST Registration person & these modifications are then updated in the GST registration particulars on Goods and services tax database itself automatically.
  • Non- Core fields include are normally which are not cover under the Core fields for example:
    • Addition of bank A/s information, etc.
    • Amendment of Stakeholder information’s for example partner/ Karta/ promoter.
    • Modification in information of the authorized signatory

What do change GST registration in core fields involve?

Below GST registration application fields are referred to as essential fields.

What time limit for Amendment in GST Registration Process ?

  • A GST taxpayer must make change to the GST registration on GST portal within 15 days if require for any modification.
  • After GST Amendment filling made to form GST REG 06 after form GST REG 14 amendment form GST officer approval.
  • GST Registration amendment application may be take for up to 15 days for APPROVAL. However application for changes will be immediately withdrawn if the applicant fails to submit it for any reason.

How to change or Modifications to the Core Field?

  • Initially we visit GST portal home page via clicking www.gst.gov.in
  • Than GST Login with provided credentials to GST portal than needed to Click on ‘Services’ tab from main menu, than on ‘Registration’ tab
  • We have to mention “Business Details’ tab appears as a default. you have to Select GST field which you want to edit by clicking the Edit tab  than Edit the particular GST detail you wish to edit in the field.

After necessary change in the field under “Amendment Of Registration Core Fields” than DSC sign form by using DSC or  E-Signature via EVC.

The legal name of the company, the address of the main location, and any additional locations are all changes to the Core Field. A proper office must approve any changes to the Core Fields after 15 days.
