Although the Income-tax Act, 2025 came into force on 1 April 2026, AY 2026-27 relates to FY 2025-26, and the provisions of the Income-tax Act, 1961 govern the filing of these returns.<\/li>\n<li>The introduction of the Income-tax Act, 2025 does not require taxpayers to file two returns during the transition period. Taxpayers will continue to file their returns for Assessment Year 2026-27 under the Income-tax Act, 1961, while the Income-tax Act, 2025 will apply to the relevant tax years going forward.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"No_Requirement_to_File_Two_Returns\"><\/span><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>No Requirement to File Two Returns: <\/strong><\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The transition to the new income tax act does not result in dual return filing.
