Protect yourself and others from the transmission of COVID-19

www.carajput.com; social distancing

You can reduce the risk of being contaminated or spreading COVID-19 by taking some basic precautions

  • Clean the hands regularly and thoroughly with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water. Why? Wash your hands with soap and water, or using an alcohol-based hand rub, destroys viruses that might be on your skin.
  • Maintain a space of at least 1 meter (3 feet) between yourself and others. Why? Why? When someone coughs, sneezes, or laughs, they release tiny liquid droplets from their nose or mouth that may contain a virus.
  • If you are so close, you can breathe in the droplets, like the COVID-19 virus, because you have the illness.
  • Don’t go to busy areas. Why? Why? As people come together in groups, you are more likely to be in direct touch with someone who has COIVD-19, so it is more difficult to sustain a physical distance of 1 meter (3 feet).
  • Stop rubbing your head, nose, and lips. Why? Hands touch a lot of things and can pick up viruses. When infected, your hands will pass the virus to your eyes, nose, or mouth.
  • The virus will invade your body from there and kill you.
  • Check that you and the people around you are practicing proper respiratory hygiene. That means that anytime you cough or sneeze, you protect your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue.
  • Then quickly take the tissue used and wash your face. Why? Droplets are circulating the infection. While practicing proper respiratory hygiene, you shield people around you from viruses like influenza, flu, and COVID-19.
  • Sit at home and self-isolate, sometimes with slight symptoms such as cough, headache, mild fever, before you heal. Let anyone bring the materials to you.
  • If you need to leave your workplace, wear a mask to prevent infecting anyone. Why? Avoiding communication with others will shield them from future viruses such as COVID-19.
  • If you have fever, cough, and trouble breathing, seek medical attention, please dial in advance if possible and follow the instructions of the local health authority.
  •  National and local authorities should have the most up-to-date information on the situation in your region. Calling in advance would encourage your health care provider to easily guide you to the appropriate health care facility. It will also protect you and help prevent the transmission of viruses and other infections.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest updates from reliable outlets, such as WHO or the local and regional health authorities.
  • State and regional officials are better positioned to comment on what residents in the neighborhood can do to defend themselves.
