Geocoding allows Correct location of GST Registered entities to be determined & Ensures address details in GSTN records are streamlined.

  • According to GST Network, it has geocoded 1.8 crore addresses of registered firms, and all states and UTs now have access to the facility. Geocoding can be used to verify fake registrations and determine the precise location of a registered entity.
  • The functionality for geocoding the primary place of business address is now available for all States and Union territories, according to an advisory from the GSTN.
  • In order to assure the accuracy of address facts in GSTN records and speed the address location and verification procedure, this technology was implemented that translates an address or description of a location into geographic coordinates.
  • Once you’ve submitted the geocoding information, the geocoding link won’t be available on the portal.
  • This is a one-time activity, and after submission, address changes are not permitted. Taxpayers who have already geocoded their addresses through new registration or core amendment will not be able to use the service.
  • Please be aware that only the core amendment process will allow you to update the address listed on your registration certificate. The previously saved address record would not be affected by this geocoding functionality.

FAQ ON GEOCODING IN GST?

Q1- Which state Geocoding is Now activated ?

Ans.-Geocoding facility is currently provided for Delhi and Haryana taxpayers only, and it will gradually be extended to the taxpayers from other States and UTs.

Q2- is it Compulsory for GST registered person for Geocoding ?

Ans.- No  GST registered person is not Compulsory for Geocoding their address

Q3- GST registered person has been cancelled GST. Can I still Geocode address of my Principal Place of Business?

Ans.- Yes, Geocoding Principal Place of Business is available to all eligible taxpayers, including Active, Cancelled and Suspended users.
