Denies Report on Lockdown Govt extend COVID19 Lockdown

Lockdown5 Government likely to extend Coronavirus lockdown till June 15 are Incorrect & Speculation

The Center is expected to prolong the lockdown until 15 June, CNN News18 said. There could be more downtime in the offing, though.

The fourth process of the lockout is currently ongoing and is set to conclude on 31 May. First, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for a national lockdown to restrict the spread of the novel coronavirus on 24 March. The shutdown has been extended three times since then.

A senior home ministry official told some news channel that the next phase would be a “lock-down extension in spirit,” and said that most of the focus would be on 11 cities that account for nearly 70 of the COVID-19 cases in the country.

These include the six main metro cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata, as well as Pune, Thane, Jaipur, Surat, and Indore. The overall number of coronavirus cases in India has reached the 1.5 lakh mark, with the highest number of cases recorded from Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Delhi.

However, the Minister of Home Affairs (MHA) spokesperson took Twitter and explained that all statements made to have inside knowledge of Lockdown 5 from MHA sources are complete speculation. Attributing them to MHA is false and reckless.

The Centre’s announcement came after several media reports quoting sources from MHA reported that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would address the country in the days ahead and announce the Government’s Lockdown 5.0 Action Plan.

The media also quoted unnamed sources from MHA and claimed that PM Modi, in his speech, would stress the lock-down concept and would also propose steps to relax restrictions in most areas of the world.

India alone has registered as many as 1,51,767 successful cases, of which 83,004 are active cases. Although 64,425 patients have survived and have been released, 4337 people have lost their lives due to deadly illness.
